The Photo Essay
Eva is a photographic essay produced in 2017 about rural and livestock life in Llagostera, Girona. Through a series of images, the project seeks to capture the essence of everyday life in the countryside, exploring themes such as the connection with nature, agricultural traditions, and the challenges faced by rural communities today.
Eva, the protagonist of this documentary, works on a livestock farm in the province of Girona alongside Buba and Dembo, two migrants from Senegal. The working day begins at 5 a.m.: Dembo takes the sheep out to graze, while Eva and Buba prepare the feed using tractors.
Sundays are devoted to selecting the sheep. Some are sent to other farms to help maintain genetic diversity within livestock populations, while others are taken directly to the slaughterhouse, from where the meat is distributed locally.
This photographic essay aims to offer an authentic and moving portrayal of rural life, inviting viewers to reflect on the relationship between humanity and the land, and to appreciate the cultural and natural richness found in rural areas.
